After graduating, she immediately started her career by completing her Clinical Fellowship in Pediatric Rehabilitation at the Children’s Center at Legacy Salmon Creek. She has continued her training by taking many continuing education courses specific to pediatric speech and language development. CommuniKate was born in 2017 as a way to better serve children and their families in the community. REBECCA BLACK

MS CCC-SLP

Growing up with a tongue thrust and seeing a speech-language pathologist as a child, Rebecca’s exposure and interest to the field of speech-language pathology started at a young age. She was fascinated with the different techniques her speech-language pathologist used with mirrors and other snacks on the tip of the tongue to help build awareness of producing a correct swallow. When deciding a career path, Rebecca knew that being able to effectively communicate in this world is a necessity and wanted to help make a difference in the lives of those that struggle to communicate clearly. A Pacific Northwest Native, Rebecca attended Portland State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech & Hearing Sciences. Here she gained an interest in American Sign Language. She then went on to acquire her Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders from Loma Linda University in Southern California. Rebecca completed many pediatric based clinical rotations and during this time found her passion for working with school-aged children in preschool and grades kindergarten through fifth grade. After graduating, she promptly started her career by completing her Clinical Fellowship in Washington State for the Pasco School District #1 at Captain Grey Elementary. Then moved on to work for Evergreen Public Schools in Vancouver, Washington at multiple elementary schools for the past 8 years. Due to the wide range of communication delay needs in the school setting, she has sought to advance her practice by attending pediatric speech and language development continuing education courses focused on areas of social communication, cognitive delays, AAC technologies, fluency and much more. Currently, Rebecca lives in Vancouver, Washington with her husband, baby boy, and their cat, Pepper. When she’s not practicing speech therapy, she enjoys songwriting, baking, worship leading at her church, and exploring nature with her family.

BRITTANY JULL

OFFICE ADMIN

Brittany attended Arizona State University where she received her BS in Speech and Hearing Sciences and a minor in Family and Child Development. While in school, she worked hard as a habilitation provider to an Autistic boy. This lead her into the world of OT, PT, and Speech. She worked as an SLP-A in Arizona before moving to Vancovuer, WA and joining the team at CommuniKate. She expanded her family and moved away to Texas but couldn’t leave the CommuniKate family (and we wouldn’t let her). Brittany has since moved from SLPA to Office Administrator, and you’ll connect with her most via phone or email. Brittany handles all things insurance— including estimates, billing, and invoicing. If you have any questions on insurance or billing, she’s your gal.

As an Arizona native and now Texan, Brittany enjoys the sun with her partner, little boy Decker, and their two dogs, Banks and Bentley. She may not be local, but she’s an important part to the CommuniKate Team, and we couldn’t function without her.
